Age 89, husband of Josephine Bass Ferretti for 50 years.

Son of the late Ismaele and Deomira Ferretti

Mr. Ferretti was born in Plymouth and graduated from Bourne High School, where he was a star athlete.

After high school, he was a shortstop in the Cape Cod Baseball League and was inducted into the Bourne Braves Hall of Fame. He also briefly played in the New York Yankees farm system before the start of World War II.

In 1941, he was drafted into the Army, attended flight training for the Army Air Forces and was commissioned a flight officer. He served in the European theater and attained the rank of captain before his release from active duty in 1946.

On Easter Sunday, 1945, his night fighter aircraft was shot down. He was able to parachute to safety and evade capture by German forces. In 1946, he was released from active duty as a captain, but rejoined the U.S. Air Force at the beginning of the Berlin Airlift and made it his career until retirement in 1966 as a Lt. Colonel. He received the Distinguished Service Medal, Air Medal and numerous other medals.

Upon retiring, Mr. Ferretti became a stockbroker and certified financial planner. He was most recently associated with Sterling Enterprises Group of Treasure Island.

He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Novella F. Francis and Ester F. Bonoli; a brother, Clement A. Ferretti, and a nephew, Anthony Bonoli.
