About | Sumner Linwood “Lindy” Small, Jr., age 91, passed away on February 8, 2018 at Plymouth Crossings Assisted Living in Plymouth, MA. He will be dearly missed. Sumner was born on June 4, 1926 in Barnstable, MA to Sumner Linwood Small Sr. and Frances (Manter) Small. He was a graduate of Bourne High School and immediately upon graduation served in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his discharge from the war he joined the United States Army National Guard. Sumner went on to work for the Federal Aviation Agency as a Radar Technician, while constantly furthering his education in his field. During the 1960’s Sumner and his brother Stuart co-owned Small Television Repair in Cedarville. He was past Worshipful Master of the Plymouth Lodge of the Masons, a member of the VFW Post 1822. He was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed gardening, tinkering on computers and he was the proud builder of the home that he shared with his wife and children. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their sporting events. A period of visitation took place at the Davis and Cremation Funeral home - 619 State Rd., Plymouth (Manomet), MA. A funeral service followed on Monday at in the Chiltonville Congregational Church - 6 River St., Plymouth, MA. Burial immediately followed the service at the Oakland Grove Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
