About | The Cape Cod Times July 21, 2015 Timothy Allen Sykes Timothy Allen Sykes, 67, of Sagamore Beach died in his home July 17 after a long illness. Born in New Bedford, he was the son of Thomas L. Sykes and Blanche C. (Allen) Sykes. In his early years he lived on the family farm in Dartmouth. The family then moved to Sagamore Beach and he graduated from Bourne High School in 1965. After high school he served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He then briefly attended Cape Cod Community College and Southeastern Massachusetts University in Dartmouth. An opportunity in construction led him to carpentry. He became a master carpenter, retiring in 2010 at age 62. He enjoyed music, poetry, singing, barbecuing, woodworking, gardening, traveling, motorcycles, camping and hunting. He was preceded in death by his father. A celebration of his life was held at the family’s home, 25 Seaview Road in Sagamore Beach. Internment was at the Joseph Davis Burial Ground in North Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV), Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA), Visiting Nurses Association (VNA) and/or Hospice. |
