Normand Fournier passed away on November 18, 2014 from complications after surgery in Middleburg Heights, Ohio where he lived at the time. A memorial service was held at All Saints Church in Haverhill in June 2015. He is buried at St Joseph's Cemetery on upper Hilldale Avenue beside his mother & father. Norm joined the Air Force right after high school to become an Avionics Technician. He spent the 1st year or so stateside in Nevada near Las Vegas to train. He was later transferred to RAF Upper Heyford in England, northwest of London, for most of his remaining enlistment. I believe it may have been a NATO base at the time & Norm worked on F111's, which mostly saw duty in the Vietnam War. Normand did travel worldwide for various sorties, though not directly in Vietnam that I know of. Decades later, Norm was recalled briefly by the Air Force to work on some F111's as he was one of the few in the country still qualified to work on them. Normand had pursued a career as an Aviation Maintenence Technician for the commercial airlines, mostly for Continental Airlines. Norm & his family lived in various locations along the East Coast during his airline career. Tampa, Florida; Greensboro, NC; & finally Middleburg Heights, Ohio.. Obviously, from the above photo, Normand loved cruising on his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He would ride out or haul his Harley from Ohio to the Bike Week festivities in Laconia almost every year. He was a great chef. Could cook up a killer chili which he was known for. He was a very pleasant person, usually laughing & joking. He was divorced, but was engaged to remarry at the time of his passing. He is survived by 2 sons & grandchildren who still live in Ohio last I knew. God Bless. (by Curtis Esmel 10/16/22) |
