About Betty Harrison Obituary
.... formerly of Ayer

AYER, MA & CLERMONT, FL: Betty Louise (Griman) Harrison, 80, of Clermont, FL formerly of Ayer died August 5, 2023 at her home. She was the wife of the late Richard M. Harrison. Betty was the daughter of the late Leona (Gayton) Griman Cushing and was a 1962 graduate of Malden High School. Upon graduation she worked as a Recording Secretary at John Hancock Company in Boston. Betty became a homemaker raising four children, which wasn't always easy. Betty was also a waitress at Sawyer's Restaurant in Plaistow, NH. One of her many passions was square dancing and that is how she met the love of her life, Richard M. Harrison. They resided in Ayer where Betty began a long career as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She and Richard always looked forward to spending time with grandchildren at their home on the lake over the summers. Upon Richard's passing in 2006 she moved to Clearwater, FL to enjoy retirement. She made many friends, often getting together to play cards and winning! She also enjoyed jigsaw puzzles with her daughter Donna and was a master at Cryptograms. Survivors include her daughters, Barbara Melnik and her husband Matt, of Wolfeboro, NH, Debi Scribner of Sandown, NH, Donna Beineman, her husband Bill with whom she resided in Clermont, FL, Diane Walsh of Manchester, NH, Linda King of Wheeling WV, Patricia Harrison of Irvine, CA, Pauline Zink of Milton, NH, Mary Philippy of Goffstown, NH; sons, Richard M. Harrison, Jr. of West Hollywood, CA and Mark Harrison of Raymond, NH; a sister, Linda Somers of Merrimack, NH as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Her son, Richard J. Scribner of Newmarket, NH preceded her in death in 2019 and also by her sister, Patricia O'Connor of Billerica. Betty was a brave, strong woman with such a remarkable sense of humor that helped you through life and she will be missed tremendously by family and friends. Even during her last few days she was still teaching us about how to get things done her way, which is usually the best way!
