| About | John Edward Kurek III, of Grant, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. He was 68 years old. Mr. Kurek was born in 1955 to John and Mary Kurek, Jr. in Saginaw, Michigan. He was one of 7 children. After high school, John proudly served as a Major in the United States Army for 18 years. After retiring from the military, John worked as a contractor for the US Government in Saudi Arabia for 4 more years. He also worked as a contractor for the government in Dugway, Utah for 16 years. Mr. Kurek loved the military, and he made lifelong friendships with other servicemen over the course of his military career. John and his wife, Kim, spent much of their time traveling together for John’s work and for pleasure. Mr. Kurek is survived by his wife, Kim McDonald Kurek; mother, Mary Kurek; brothers, Jeff (Deb) Kurek and Jim (Sherry) Kurek; sisters, Jackie (Rick) Kurtz, Jerri Neiderquil, Judy (Willie) Sinn and Julie (Wayne) Tornberg and his faithful companion, Sushi, his dog. Mr. Kurek is preceded in death by his father, John Edward Kurek Jr. |
