About Alice Jean (Thorp) Bricker, 87, died at her home on August 29, 2024.

She was born July 6, 1937, in Charlevoix, Michigan, the daughter of William and Hulda (Reith) Thorp. She graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1955.

She married the love of her life Charles Bricker, on September 7, 1957. They shared 66 wonderful years as husband and wife and created a loving and strong connection with their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Alice ran her own at-home daycare in Petoskey for over 30 years. She made many lifelong friendships through her work and had the pleasure of watching numerous young children grow into adulthood over the years. She always had a soft spot in her heart for babies especially.

In her spare time, Alice enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and sewing projects. She also liked spending time in her flower gardens and growing vegetables to can.

She is survived by her beloved husband Charles Bricker of Petoskey; her son David (Jane) Bricker of Petoskey; daughter Karen (Kevin) Cheadle of Walloon Lake; grandchildren, Melissa Bricker, Paul (Kelsey) Bricker, Matthew Bricker, Michael (Ellie) Bricker, Ashley (Tim) Valdez, Andrew (Courtney) Cheadle, Amy (C.J.) Hall, and Aaron (Crystal) Cheadle; and 12 great-grandchildren, Cameron Bricker, Harley Howland, Lilah Graham, Riley Shaw, Kyleigh Cheadle, Payton Cheadle, Hadley Bricker, Brady Bricker, Harper Cheadle, Charles Cheadle, Carson Hall, and Calvin Cheadle.

Alice is preceded in death by two sons, Paul and James Bricker; grandson Ryan Bricker; and seven brothers and sisters.

There will be a funeral service at Trinity Missionary Church on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Pastor Steve Beigle will officiate. Burial will take place immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery.

The Bricker family suggests donations in her memory be directed to the Emmet County Friendship Center (1322 Anderson Rd, Petoskey, MI 49770).
