About | April 20, 1916 - March 27, 2011 Amelia P. "Meady" Gregory, 94, of Charlevoix, died Sunday, March 27, 2011, at her home. She was born April 20, 1916, in Norwood Township, the daughter of Edward and Anna (Oosterbon) Scott. She grew up in Charlevoix, graduating from Charlevoix High School in 1934. She then attended Community College in Bay City. Amelia spent her early years living in the Bay City and Detroit areas. On July 25, 1936, she married Clifton Gregory. They made their home in Charlevoix, where Amelia worked several years at Joe William's Cigar Store and Newsstand. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charlevoix, and was involved in church circle. Amelia was an accomplished gardener especially raising raspberries - and seamstress. She enjoyed knitting, embroidery, reading and crossword puzzles. Clifton preceded Amelia in death on July 10, 1996, after 60 years of marriage. She is survived by her loving daughters, Sandra Gregory of Charlevoix, and Clarice (John) Thorlund of Greenville; grandchildren, Norice (Lee) Rasmussen of Greenville, Denise Wolthuis of Plainwell, Greg Thorlund of Greenville; great- grandchildren, Garrett and Zachary Wolthuis, Tyler and Jacob Rasmussen; sister, Angie Supernaw of Charlevoix. Amelia's siblings, Charles E. Scott, Jr., Peter Scott, and Edna Preston preceded her in death. A memorial service will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 13, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where friends may visit with her family beginning at noon. The Rev. Ginger Stevens will officiate.
