About | COL. AIREL B. COOPER Funeral services will be held Tuesday for Col. Airel Burr Cooper (U.S.A – Ret. 1, 7) of 320 Parrot drive, San Mateo, who died May 25 after a sudden illness while on a cruise in Acapulco, Mexico. A native of Michigan, he had lived in San Mateo 15 years, and was a 1929 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He was a member and past president of the San Mateo Community Garden Club, and a former member of the San Francisco Press Club. He is survived by his widow, Polly; three sons, Col. Jack Cooper of Leavenworth, Kan., Airel Cooper Jr. of Providence, R.I, and William T. Sextons of Lake Oswego, Wash; a daughter, Mrs. Joan Kerran of Beaverton, Ore.; two brothers, Theodore Cooper and New York, and Harry Cooper of New York,; a sister, Mrs. Marva Polle of Florida, and four grand-children. Military services are scheduled Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the Patterson & O’Connell Funeral Home in San Mateo, followed by military committal services at Skylawn Memorial Park. The family prefers contributions to a favorite charity. |
