About | rthur Ernest Falting, known to his loved ones as Art, passed away on February 6, 2024, at the age of 86, in his hometown of Charlevoix, Michigan. Born on January 11, 1938, in Charlevoix, Art led a remarkable life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Art was larger than life, as he often said, "Dynamite comes in a small package." He was a devoted family man, enjoying over 61 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Jane, who was the mother of their children. Art's family credits him for instilling in them a strong work ethic, the ability to ride horses, motorcycles and snowmobiles, love for animals, and above all, a deep love for family. He had a knack for storytelling, and his memory for details was astounding. While he may have shared the same story more than once, it was always entertaining and captivating. One of his proudest accomplishments was being named National Champ with AMA oval track racing. Everybody that drove by Falting Farm saw him on his second love, running his John Deere bulldozer. A proud Union brother of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 85, Art would proudly proclaim his retired pipefitter status to anyone he met. He enjoyed over 24 years of retirement, just in time to spend every summer with his beloved granddaughters, Julia and Lauren, when they would visit Charlevoix. The Falting Farm holds cherished memories for all friends and family members, as it was a place of joy and togetherness. Art is survived by his loving wife, Jane (Boris) Falting, and their children: Vicki (Jim) Beam, Beth (Darren) Turco, and Fred Falting. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren, Julia and Lauren Turco, Johnny and Magan Beam, and great grandchildren Alex, Briella, Emerson and Sophia. In addition, Art is survived by many extended family members, who were blessed to have known him. Art was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Joy Falting, his brothers Richard, William, Douglas, and Donald, his sister Beverly, and his infant daughter Dawn. Art proudly served in the US Army and completed Airborne School at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. His military service was a testament to his courage and dedication. The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life to honor Art's memory and share his favorite stories in the summer of 2024. Further details will be posted on Facebook, or you may contact vickibeam@gmail.com for more information. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the American Cancer Society, a cause close to Art's heart. The Gaylord Community Funeral Home in Gaylord, Michigan, is assisting the family with the arrangements. Their compassionate support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated. Art Falting will forever hold a special place in the hearts of all who knew him. His legacy of love, laughter, and storytelling will continue to inspire and bring joy to future generations. May his soul rest in eternal peace. |
