About | Betty Lee Bishaw, 76, of Charlevoix, went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with her beloved husband, James. She passed peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, April 24, 2022. She was born on December 26, 1945 in Charlevoix, the daughter of Donald and Elizabeth (Guernsey) Bogart. Betty graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1964, and later that year, on June 26, she married her high school sweetheart, James Bishaw, in Petoskey. They settled into a quant farm house in Charlevoix where they raised their two children. Betty worked for over 30 years as a cook at the hospital in Charlevoix, where she served many people over the years. Betty was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and member of the Charlevoix community. She consistently made sacrifices so James could serve the community through his work with the City of Charlevoix. She was a quiet backbone for her family and community, often doing the things that were behind the scenes which made the bigger picture possible. She was steadfast in her faith to Jesus, and she was heavily involved at The Church in Charlevoix. When she wasn't serving others, Betty enjoyed cross-stitching, spending time with her family, and mowing the lawn at the farm. Betty is survived by two daughters, Tina Bishaw (Dennis Lawrence) of Harbor Springs and Angela Robarge of Nashville, TN; two brothers, Ed Bogart and Dick (Sheilah) Bogart; two sisters, Nancy Thorp and Ruth (Liz) Johnson; three grandchildren, JT (Hannah) Lawrence, Andrew Robarge, and Sarah (Jay) Krystyniak; and a great-granddaughter on the way, who will be named after her. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, James Bishaw, as well as her parents. Since James' passing last year, Betty and her family have been overwhelmed with the outpouring of love, support, and assistance from neighbors, friends, The Church family, and Betty's life long friend, Shirley Revoir. They would like to thank everyone who cared for her in the past year. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at The Church, 203 E. Upright Ave., Charlevoix, MI 49720. Visitation will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 30, at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. There will also be visitation at The Church on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 2:30. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Joppa House, The Church, or McLaren Hospice. Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes |
