About | Blain M. Saunders, 31, of Ironton, died Feb. 18, 1994, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. Funeral was held 11 a.m. today, Feb. 21, at the First Congregational Church in Charlevoix. Burial will be in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. Mr. Saunders was born Jan. 29, 1963, in Charlevoix, the son of Wayne O. and Sally J. (McNeal) Saunders. He attended East Jordan High School and graduated in 1981 from Charlevoix High School. He attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City. On Dec. 15, 1984, he married Dottie Jo Sonnenberg in Petoskey and she survives. The couple made their home in the Ironton area where he farmed the Saunders' family farm and later operated the Saunders produce farm. He most recently worked for Jamie and Mary Kay Martin Builders in Harbor Springs. Mr. Saunders was a member of the Ironton Congregational Church. He was a collector of model tractors and had attended Northern Michigan Antique Flywheeler conventions in Buckley and Walloon Lake. He is survived by his wife, Dottie Jo; a daughter, Blair Marie; two sons, Blain Milford Jr. (Bud), and Benjamin Michael, all at home. He is also survived by three sisters, Virginia Metzger and her husband, Dick, of Durham, N.C., Susan Schwenke and her husband, Mark, of Pound, Wis., and Diane Lawson and her husband, Gifford, of Lodi, Calif.; his parents, Wayne and Sally Saunders of Ironton; his mother-in- law and father-in law, Gus and Joan Sonnenberg of Charlevoix; maternal grandfather, Jim McNeal of East Jordan; and his grandparents- in-law, John and Ann Sonnenberg of Grand Island, Fla., and Alice Vernier of Charlevoix. Arrangements were handled by Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. |
