About | Carl Edmund Bogart, 90, of Charlevoix, died on Thursday, March 23 at his home. He was born March 9, 1916 in East Jordan, the son of Edmund G. and Cora (Wright) Bogart. He moved to Charlevoix in his teens and graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1934. On Dec. 7, 1945, he married Clara Potter in Charlevoix. Carl worked as an electrician and builder, and wired many rural homes, bringing power to them for the first time. He and Clara owned and operated the Colonial, Archway, and Villa Moderne motels in Charlevoix. Carl was a member of the Barnard United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Clara, of Charlevoix; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Bogart: brother-in-law, Richard Farmer, brothers and sisters-in-law. Garrett and Bertha Potter, Ernie and Mildred Potter and Quinella Potter, all of Charlevoix, Shirley Potter of Sandusky; and many nieces and nephews. His parents, brother Don, and sisters, Kathryn Farmer and Virginia Helms preceded him in death. A funeral took place on Monday. March 27, at the Barnard United Methodist Church. The Rev. Michael Maurer officiated. Interment will be in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix. Memorial contributions may be made to the Barnard United Methodist Church. |
