About | Clair J. “Jack and Bart” Bartholomew Clair J. “Jack and Bart” Bartholomew, 89, of Ellenton, died March 2 in Manatee Memorial Hospital. Memorial service will be 3 p.m. today at Parrish United Methodist Church, 12140 69th St. E., Parrish, with the Rev. Lamar Albritton officiating. National Cremation Society, Fort Myers, is in charge of arrangements. Born in Charlevoix, Mich., Mr. Bartholomew came to Ellenton every winter for 10 years. He was a civil engineer. He was a Methodist. He was a 1922 graduate of Charlevoix High School and received a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from Michigan State College as a Detroit Edison Co. co- op student in 1928. He had a lifelong career with Detroit Edison and rose to the position of superintendent for the underground lines department. He was a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army during World War II in Europe. He is survived by three sons, Richard, of Dearborn, Mich., Ralph, of St. James City, and Robert, of Bingham Farms, Mich.; a stepson, Joe Coburn of Chicago; 18 grand- children; and 27 great-grandchildren. |
