About | Dorris E. Pearsall, 85, of Charlevoix, died Nov. 16, 1998, at Boulder Park Terrace Nursing Home in Charlevoix. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix. The Rev. Bruce E. Hamilton of the Community Church of God will officiate. Burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery, Charlevoix. Dorris was born June 26, 1913, in Silverton, Ore., the daughter of Robert and Emma (Evers) Struthers. She moved to the Charlevoix area at the age of 4. Dorris graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1931, then graduated from Charlevoix County Normal School. She taught school in Boyne City, then worked in food services at Charlevoix Area Hospital. She also worked as a waitress at area restaurants and summer resorts. On April 30, 1965, she married Claude Pearsall in Petoskey. Dorris was a lifetime member of the Charlevoix Historical Society and was an avid gardener. Survivors include her husband, Claude, of Charlevoix; three sons, Charles R. Pierce and his wife, Judith, of Littlefield Township, Clifford F. Pierce and his wife, Charla, of Woodstock III., and Barry D. Pierce and his wife, Karen, of Charlevoix; two daughters, Karen Vincent and her husband, Jack, of East Jordan, and Joy Ann Price and her husband, James, of Toledo, Ohio; two stepsons, Eugene Pearsall of Lake Odessa, and Rodney Pearsall and his wife, Lynn, of Charlevoix; two step- daughters, Beverly Frye and her husband, James "Butch," of East Jordan, and Pat Lauder of Flint; several grandchildren and great- grandchildren; and by one sister, Marion Schleffel, of Riverside, Calif. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Charlevoix Historical Society. Envelopes for memorials are available at the Winchester Funeral Home in Charlevoix, where visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19. |
