About | Dr. Eber D. Kanaga Is Taken by Death Following a lengthy illness, Dr. Eber D. Kanaga, widely respected village resident for the last eight years, succumbed at his home last Monday. He came here from Tacoma, Washington, in 1933, because of ill health. Dr. Kanaga was born in Atwood, Michigan, March 24, 1878. He was a graduate of Charlevoix high school in Michigan, Posse Gymnasium in Boston, Massachusetts, and the University of Michigan Medical School where he was part of the football team. He taught gymnastics in Friend's Select School in Philadelphia, and later headed the department of health at the University of Idaho. For twelve years Dr. Kanaga engaged in general practice in Hood River, Oregon, and for four years in pediatrics in Detroit, Michigan. He had practiced in Tacoma, Washington, for four years prior to coming to Palm Springs. Dr. Kanaga was a member of the Masonic and Knight Templar lodges. Funeral services were held from the family home here on Wednesday. Surviving the retired physician are his widow, Charlotte W. Kanaga, a sister, Miss Lulu Kanaga, and a brother, Dr. Elon L. Kanaga of Philadelphia. |
