| About | Gabriel Nicholas Helferich of Arcadia left this earthly world unexpectedly on March 8, 2024, at an apartment his mother owns in Benzonia. He is stress-free and at peace now, although he will be dearly missed. He was a graduate of Charlevoix High School in 2010. He had a passion for working on cars and attended mechanic school in Chicago. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with various family members. Gabe loved dogs, Lola was the last in a long line of hairy ones that shared his bed and his affection. Training Lola and spending time with her was very important to him. He took her everywhere and she always looked for him when they were apart. Gabe was preceded in death by Brother Alexander Helferich, Grampa Brian Helferich, Special Gramma Cheryl “Mema” Helferich, Grampa Don Clemons, Great Grandparents; Harvey and Edith Helferich of Arcadia, and Ada Kuenzer of Bear Lake. Gabe is survived by mother Minda (Tim) Jones of Bear Lake, Father Donnie (Wendy) Kelley Jr. of Copemish, Brother Marshall Kelley of Benzonia, Nephew Alex Kelley, Aunts and Uncles; Amanda and Matt Socher of Grand Rapids, Wanda and Dale McQuillin of Bear Lake, Dennis and Karen Helferich of Manistee, Nora and Ron Case of Mesick, and Wes and Brenda Kelley of Copemish, Gramma Joyce Kelley of Copemish, Cousins Jeremiah McQuillin, Jeremy Kelley, Tasha Kelley, Kegan Socher, Kelsey Socher and many more Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Cremation has taken place, and his ashes will be kept in an urn, passed from family member to family member until no one can remember who is in the jar. He always wanted a smoking hot body. We take comfort knowing that Gabe is with his brother and Grandparents once again hunting, fishing, and telling stories. Everyone who remembers Gabe is asked to celebrate his life with them at Jowett Family Funeral Home on March 23, 2024; telling a “He wasn’t all bad” or “What an ass” story of their choosing before the service.
