About | HAROLD AUGUSTUS CARTIER ‘22 The ranks of 1922 were further thinned on May 29, 1984 with the passing on of Harold Augustus Cartier of Red Hook, NY. He was born July 26, 1900 in Chatam Ontario. He prepared for Princeton at Charlevoix High School, Charlevoix, Michigan, where he played football, basketball and baseball. At Princeton he as a member of the baseball squad and of Key and Seal. After college he spent a year designing foundations, two years with a Michigan bridge commission as filed engineer. And then joined Walter Kidde Constrictors, where he became senior V.P. and a director. On June 27, 1936, he married Antoinette Gallup, and for many years they lived in Mendham, NJ, and later in Red Hook, NY. Has was active and ardent golfer, belonging to Pine Valley Golf Club, Somerset Hill Country Club, Pinehurst Golf club and the U.S. Senior Golf Ass. He was also a member of the Princeton Club of New York the Nassau club of Princeton, and the Whitehall Club of New York. Hal is survived by his sons, John of New York City, Fred of Red Hook, William of Boston, and a daughter, Barbara Vrederick, of Sag Harbor, Long Island. The class extends sincere sympathy in their loss, which we share. |
