Helen Hamlin Henshaw, 85, of Bainbridge, GA, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2011 at Bainbridge Health Care. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. W. Earl Henshaw officiating. Interment will follow at New Fountainhead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Online visitors may sign the guest register at www.iveyfuneral.com. Mrs. Henshaw was born January 18, 1926 in Clearwater, FL, the daughter of William Henry Hamlin and Ethel Mae Hopper Hamlin. She was a graduate of Charlevoix High School, Class of 1943. She received her B.A. in English from Anderson College and her M. Ed. from Troy State University. She was an elementary school teacher and taught in Faceville, GA and Bainbridge, GA. She retired from Jones-Wheat Elementary School as a reading coordinator. She was a member of the Decatur-Seminole Retired Educators Association and served many years as a volunteer tax preparer. Survivors include her husband, Rev. W. Earl Henshaw of Bainbridge, GA; her son, Mike Henshaw of Thomasville, GA; her brother, Herb Hamlin of Eustis, FL; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Ricky Henshaw. |
