Jesse Michael Lord Obituary (1976 - 2025)

Graduation Year Class of 1994
Date of Birth Feb 05, 1976
Date of Passing Oct 23, 2025
About Jesse Michael Lord passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025, at Munson Hospice House after a short battle with cancer. He was born on February 5, 1976, in Petoskey, Michigan, to Michael and Nancy Lord of Norwood.

Raised in Charlevoix, Jesse graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1994 and later earned a bachelor's degree in Automotive Marketing from Northwood University in Midland. Shortly after college, through mutual friends in Traverse City, he met the love of his life, Stephanie Gilbert-a match made in "gear" heaven. They married in 2011 and made their home in Lake Ann, sharing life with their beloved dogs; Jesse was a dog lover at heart.

Professionally, Jesse began as an adjuster with Michigan Insurance before moving into the body-shop world. Eventually, he shifted gears entirely, joining Great Lakes Potato Chips. Immersed in an industry he hadn't known, he rose to the challenge, learning quickly and contributing with his characteristic dedication and loyalty.

Jesse's passions revolved around anything with an engine. From his childhood dirt bike to long rides across the countryside on his snowmobile and motorcycle, his spirit was made to move. Quiet and humble, he accepted life as it came. He treasured his large family, especially his nieces and nephews as well as his XAM fraternity brothers. He never forgot a birthday and always remembered the names of those who struck up a conversation; especially if it involved engines.

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie; his mother, Nancy (Jack Vanniman); his mother-in-law, Sherie Gilbert; his sister, Kate (Steve Parafin); his stepbrothers, Carl (Stephanie Vanniman) and Neil Vanniman; his brother-in-law, Steve Gilbert; nephews Kortmon, Beckett, and Emery; nieces Finch and Harper; and countless extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Michael Stanley Lord.

Jesse will be remembered for his gentle nature, steady loyalty, and the joy he found in family, friends, and the open road.

Donations can be made to the Benzie County Animal Shelter in honor of Jesse! That is where his beloved dog Max came from.

A Gathering will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 11AM and Celebration of Life to follow at 12 PM, from Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel, 511 S. Garfield Ave., Traverse City, Michigan 49686.

Beacon Cremation & Funeral Service, Covell-Traverse City Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
