About | John "Jack" Cross Jr., 87, of Charlevoix, passed away on January 9, 2022 at his home. He was born on January 29, 1934, in Charlevoix, the son of John H. Sr. and Huldah M. (Thompson) Cross. Jack was born and raised in Charlevoix where he worked in the family business. He served in the U.S. Army, was an active member of the Masonic Lodge #282 in Charlevoix and was a Shriner. He was a hard worker and was the owner and operator of Cross Fisheries. His greatest passions in life were his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and his beloved boat "The Jackie II". In 1958, in Charlevoix, he married June P. McElrea who survives. Also surviving are 4 children, Neil (Merle) Cross of Chicago, IL, Patty (Ralph) Larsen of Charlevoix, Kellie (Jack) Sutherland of Charlevoix, John III (Michelle) Cross of Charlevoix, 2 sisters, Jill (John) Picha of Charlevoix, Carol Stephan of Charlevoix, 5 grandchildren, Sarah (Ty) Schaef, Megan (Marcel) Cross, Shane Sutherland, Grace (Jordan) Sutherland, Matthew (Heather) Cross, 2 great-grandchildren Millie and Maddox and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A public funeral service will be held June 17, at 11 a.m. at the Community Reformed Church in Charlevoix. Jack will be buried in Brookside Cemetery in Charlevoix when weather permits. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, PO BOX 947765, Atlanta, GA 30394.
