About | Joseph A. Buchfinck, age 78, of Carroll, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll after 5:00 P.M. on Friday where there will be a prayer service held at 7:00 P.M. The casket will be moved to the church at 8:30 A.M. on Saturday where visitation will resume until the time of service. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors by the Carroll American Legion. Casket bearers will be Howard Breitenkamp, William Breitenkamp Jr., Darrell Brinker, Dennis Warnke, Mike Willenborg, Chad Willenborg. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll and online condolences may be left for the family at www.dahnandwoodhouse.com Born on February 25, 1933 at Grand Island, Nebraska, he was the son of Dorothy (Blue) and Armin Buckfinck. He grew up in Michigan, Illinois, Nebraska, and Iowa. He graduated from Charlevoix, Michigan. Following high school he attended the University of Michigan and then enlisted in the United States Army and served two years. Following his military service he returned to Michigan where he worked at foundry. Joe moved to Carroll in 1996 and did part time farmhand work. He was married Kathy Anderson on April 20, 1996 at the First United Methodist Church in Carroll. In his spare time he enjoyed square dancing, gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his wife Kathy of Carroll; a daughter Linda Sala and her husband Bruce of North St. Paul, Minnesota; two sons: Jon Buchfinck of Des Moines, Iowa, and Max Buchfinck of Dodge City, Kansas; two step-daughters: Jenny Trople and her husband Tom of Caputa , South Dakota and Kim Sealine of Caputa, South Dakota; two step-sons: Charles Laipple and his wife Janie of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jesse Stoddard and his wife Christina of Rapid City, South Dakota; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two brothers: Alvin Buchfinck and his wife Cathy of Detroit, Michigan, and Warren Buckfinck and his wife Kathy of Detroit, Michigan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
