About | June Helen Izzo passed away peacefully on Monday, July 31, 2023 at Medilodge of Midland. She was born June 2, 1954 to Joseph Izzo and Olga Shellest in Saginaw, Michigan. She graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1973 and was employed by Charlevoix Glass as a bookkeeper for many years until moving to Houghton Lake. There she worked as a manager of an apartment complex, worked for Fashion Bug clothing store, and Country Peddler Carryout. June loved to travel, play board games, do cross word puzzles, and color. June was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Clarence Nieman, George Izzo, Gary Dragoo, Joe Hoffman, and Baby Brother John Hoffman, Sisters; Judy Izzo and Barbara Baker. June is survived by her sister-in-law; Kathleen Nieman of Midland, sister; Patricia Walls of Idaho, and her dog Sheya. Also surviving are nephews; Clarence Nieman Jr, Timothy Nieman, Anthony Walls, Al Schutz, Anthony Schultz, Ronnie, and Jerry Jr., nieces; Julie (Don) Near, Annette Baer, Linda Liberty, and Lori Schultz. She also leaves behind many other great nephews, nieces, cousins, and her lifelong friends Clara Brown, Tonya Payne, and Louann Artiaga. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 26 beginning at Christler Funeral Home, 6651 W Houghton Lake Drive, Houghton Lake, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to June’s favorite restaurant, Little Boots Country Diner, which sustained a fire on March 5, 2023 or a charity of the donor’s choice. |
