About | Kenneth J. Boss, 82, of Charlevoix passed away Saturday Oct 10th, 2020 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City. He was born on October 22, 1937 in Charlevoix, MI, the son of Jack and Francis (Carpenter) Boss. Kenneth “Ken” was a 1955 graduate of Charlevoix High School and married Myrna Rae (Veenstra) Boss on November 8, 1958 at the Church of God in Charlevoix. Ken’s tenacity for work and love for people contributed to his 40 years managing Puff’s Home Center in Petoskey, MI, and then another 17 memorable years, as the Property Manager of the Oyster Pointe Association in Charlevoix. Ken’s life centered around his wife, family, friends, and the community of Charlevoix. Ken was a lifelong member of the Reformed Church of Charlevoix and served as a member of the Charlevoix School Board for 17 years. He was an active member of the Petoskey Kiwanis club for 40 years, and served the Charlevoix High School Athletics department; keeping books and announcing both basketball and football games for over 30 years. He was the undisputed “Voice of the Rayders.” He enjoyed hunting, fishing, motorcycling and snowmobiling. Ken’s regard for, and devotion shown to his wife, his family, his friends, and his community will be one of the his most impactful legacies in the lives of all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Ken is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Myrna Boss; his brother, Nathan (Kathryn) Boss of Charlevoix, MI; his two sisters, Esther (Garry) Vandenberg of Kalamazoo, MI and Kathy (Rod) Linder, of St. John, MI; his son, Scott (Cindy) Boss of Charlevoix, MI; his two daughters, Brenda Wilson of Indianapolis, IN and Cyndi (Joe) Powers of Bellaire, MI, and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his eldest brother, Herbert (Bev) Boss, nephews Dave Boss, Doug Boss, and Mike Wheat. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 31st at 2 pm at the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix with Pastor Chip Sauer officiating. Memorial contributions can be given in Ken’s name to the Community Reformed Church of Charlevoix or the Charlevoix High School Athletic Department.
