About | ENS. LEE HILLER KILLED IN PLANE CRASH SATURDAY Ens. Lee Hiller, 21 year old naval flying instructor, was killed in a crash near his navy air base at Miami, Fla., according to a telegram received by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest. J. Hiller and Christine (Peterson) Hiller, late Saturday afternoon. No details of the crash were given in the wire. Ens. Hiller had been home late in October after accompanying home the body of his friend and roommate, John Scholtz, of Toledo, O., who was killed in a similar crash. Ens. Hiller was a graduate of the Charlevoix high school in 1939 and attended Michigan State College, East Lansing, before leaving there to enlist in the navy air force in September, 1942. He received his commission in October. Surviving besides his parents are two brothers, Pfc. James Hiller. of Parkwater, Wash., and Don, of Milwaukee, and one sister, Annabel, at home. Funeral services have not been completed. |
