About | Linda Frye Potter, 86, of East Jordan, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on May 24, 1938, the daughter of Julius and Mildred (Sharrow) Frye. Linda graduated from Charlevoix High School and went on to attend college for a short time before starting a family. She also held several jobs in the Charlevoix area over the years; she worked at Sears and cleaned at the middle school, but her favorite job was running traffic control for road construction projects. Linda loved spending time with her grandkids and great-grandkids more than anything else in the world…they even had her playing Nintendo with them. One of her favorite things to do was mow the lawn on her riding lawn mower which she did up until just last year. She is survived by four children, Randy Russell of East Jordan, Jerry (Jen) Russell of Engadine, Cathy Russell of East Jordan, and Jack (Anne) Russell of Charlevoix; nine grandchildren, Jamie Bogart, Jessie Russell, Courtney Thompson (Russell), Cory Russell, Christina Russell, Gerald Lent, Riki Jordan, Lisa Sargent, and Jack Russell Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; and her beloved dog, Maketa. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, James Russell; and her brother, Butch Frye. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Charlevoix Area Humane Society. Arrangements are in the care of the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes.
