| About | Louisa "Marie" Roach, age 92, of Ithaca, MI died Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Gratiot Medical Center in Alma, MI. Funeral Services will be held at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Ithaca Chapel on Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 12:00 PM. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 from 4-8 PM. at Smith Family Funeral Homes. Marie was born in Daytona Beach, Florida on February 15, 1917, the daughter of Andrew Christian and Louisa Marie (Graunstedt) Hansen. Marie graduated from Charlevoix High School and Central Michigan University. She resided most of her life in the Alma/Ithaca area. Marie married Clyde Julius Roach. He preceded her in death in March 1986. She taught country school in the Ithaca/Breckenridge area. She also taught at Ithaca Public Schools, and Carrie Knause School in St. Louis, where she retired. She loved antiquing, walking the beach, going to auctions & flea markets, coin collecting, sudoko puzzles, and spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her 4 children; Gary Roach of West Palm Beach, FL, Susan Lalonde of Salem, MA, Julie Roach of Los Angeles, CA, Anell Roach & Tim Glowney of Ithaca, MI, daughter in law Karen Roach of West Palm Beach, FL, 6 grandchildren; Gary and Rachel Roche Jr., Ryan and Vanessa Roach, Annette Lalonde, Jason Lalonde, Travis Glowney, Alysen Glowney, 6 great grandchildren; Jackie Roche, James Greene, Kylie Roach, Tyler Roach, Dylan Roche, Samantha Roche, and a sister Esther and Tom Carey of Charlevoix, MI. She is also survived by lifelong friends Rosemary & Red Ingalls. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brothers; Ed, Bill, and Andrew Hansen.
