About | She was born on May 28, 1923, in Charlevoix, Michigan to Blanche Elizabeth (Tooley) Wood and Clarence Frederick Wood. Marjorie graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1941 and Michigan State University in 1945 with a B.S. degree in Education. She taught physical education in Grand Rapids, Michigan for two years. Marjorie was an Elder and former Sunday school teacher at First Presbyterian Church in Muncie, Indiana. She was active in the YWCA, Psi Iota Xi (philanthropic service sorority), Kappa Kappa Gamma (college sorority). Marjorie enjoyed playing tennis and bridge. She was physically active and an avid walker. She enjoyed fishing and hiking at her beloved cottage in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Marjorie was a loving and nurturing wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Richard Lucas; her parents, Blanche and Clarence Wood. Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Patricia (David) Marienau of Evansville, IN; son, Robert (Teresa) Lucas of Holland, Michigan; grandsons; Michael (Beatrice) Marienau of Steamboat Springs, CO, Trevor (Jaya) Marienau of Lakewood, CO, granddaughters; Jennifer (Timothy) Schifer of St. Joseph, MI and Sarah (Tyler) McCoy of Holland, MI; great grandchildren; Samuel, Josephine, Shane, Karthik and Quinn. A Memorial Service was held on Monday, December 10, 2018 at 11:30 am at First Presbyterian Church 1400 W. Riverside Ave., Muncie, IN 47303. Friends visited on Monday from 10:30 am until service time at the church.
