About Michael (Mike) Ray Hand, 55, of Crystal Falls passed away on July 2, 2019 as the result of a work-related accident at AAM in Kingsford.

Mike was born in Petoskey, MI and lived most of his life in Charlevoix, MI. He married Jennifer (Dalpra) in 2009. They had 2 sons and moved to Crystal Falls in 2017.

He was a 1982 graduate of Charlevoix High School and worked hard on his parents’ dairy farm in Charlevoix County. Mike served 4 years in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. After the Army, he returned to Charlevoix where he was first employed by Lexalite Corp. and then at the Iron Works in East Jordan for over 20 years.

Mike is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Dalpra), and 2 young sons, Caden and Jason; his daughter, Kelly (Ray) Fuller and Marcia and Cora of Charlevoix; his son, Patricia O’Connor (Anora) and Seamus, Wesley, and Akira; his mother and step-father, Marian Hand-Mendel (Ernie Mendel) also of Charlevoix; 4 siblings, Debi Johnson (Ray), of Rock, MI, Marcia Shue (Jake) of Pueblo, CO, Daniel Hand (Peg) of Angiers, NIC and Russell Hand (Gracie) of New Port Richey, FL; 5 grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Gail Dalpra; brother-in-law, Rob (Mary) Connor and Christopher, all of Crystal Falls; and a foster brother-in-law, Larry Maenpaa of Milwaukee and Samantha (Lance) of Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father, Millard Hand in 2009.

Mike and Jenny started a small animal farm at 2030 US 2 West in Crystal Falls in addition to his employment at AAM (formerly Grede Foundry.) He was a laid back gentleman who would do anything that was needed by anybody. He loved his family dearly and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 8, 2019 from 9:00 - 11:00 am at the Nash Funeral Home in Crystal Falls, with the service at 11:00, also at the funeral home. Rev. David Johnson will preside, followed by a luncheon at United Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
