About | Paul Belding passed away surrounded by family on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Po’ipu, HI. He was 66 years old. Paul was born September 4, 1950 in Tucson, AZ, to Wayne and Helen (nee Halverson) Belding. When he was 4 years old, they moved back to their home in Charlevoix, MI. He grew up on Antrim Street around aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He graduated from Charlevoix High School with the class of 1968. After high school, Paul moved to California. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of California at Berkeley and graduated in 1976. He had two children with Jacqueline (nee Auber) Belding. They returned to Paul’s hometown of Charlevoix in 1985. Paul worked for 20 years as Senior Engineer for Lexalite International/Spectrus, Inc.. He semi-retired in 2010 and travelled the country visiting friends and family in Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, Florida, Iowa, and everywhere in between. Paul always packed light carrying a few changes of clothes, dancing shoes, and his fly rod. He enjoyed fishing and dancing most of all. He befriended and inspired so many people on the river and the dance floor. Paul is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Drew and Jacqueline (nee Baker) Belding of Po’ipu, HI; his daughter Heather Belding of Portland, OR; his sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Roger Knutson of Charlevoix, MI; his sister-in-law Suzanne (nee Zurawski) Belding of Bradenton Beach, FL; six nieces and nephews; dozens of cousins; and countless friends. He is preceded in death by his brother, Warren Belding. At Paul’s request, there will not be a memorial service.
