Signe Isaksen Potts, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2017, at McLaren Northern Michigan Hospital in Petoskey, Michigan. She was born in Charlevoix, Michigan, on August 12, 1924, to Henry and Anna Roen Isaksen, Norwegian immigrants. Signe graduated from Charlevoix High School and attended Michigan State University. She married Floyd Potts, Jr. on her 20th birthday. They spent most of their married life in Petoskey until Floyd's retirement, when they moved to Florida. Floyd preceded her death in 1990, and Signe moved back to Petoskey in 2010. She lived in her own apartment at Independence Village and enjoyed reading and social activities there. Her son, David Potts, preceded her death in 2014. Signe is survived by her two daughters, Linda Potts Balderson (Andy Balderson) from Laytonsville, Maryland, and Janis Potts from Petoskey plus four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Signe will be laid to rest next to her husband in Charlevoix. Honoring her wishes, there will not be a public funeral service. Donations in her memory can be made to a charitable organization of your choosing. Arrangements are being handled by the Winchester Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. |
