86, residing in Cleveland Heights, passed away early Wednesday morning, August 28, 2019 at the Ohio Veteran's Home. Thomas was born on February 6, 1933 in Charlevoix, MI to the late Bruce and Florence (Smith) Donaldson. Thomas graduated from Charlevoix High School and received his Bachelors from Wayne State, and his Advanced degrees including Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines from 1955 to 1961. After serving in the Marines, he taught in North Dakota until he moved to the Cleveland area where he taught at Cleveland State University. Thomas had a love for the fine arts, passion for ancient Indian art and enjoyed studying Hindu and Buddhist culture. Thomas is survived by his wife of 35 years, Jessica (Watford) Donaldson and; daughters Deirdre Donaldson, Shauna Olan; son Kevin Donaldson, daughter in-law Liz; and 8 grandchildren Rachel, Matt, Sara, Emma, Marissa, Evie, Zeke and Khava; also sister Ann Gothro and brother Charles. Services will be held at in Cleveland at Cleveland State University Parker Hannifin Hall September 28th 1pm to 3pm at 2258 Euclid Ave. Cleveland OH 44115 and private family services in Charlevoix MI October 12th on the Lake Michigan Shore.
