About | Thomas was born on November 23, 1986, in Charlevoix, Michigan. He was the son of Michael and Linda (Throop) Castiglione. Thomas attended Saint Mary's Catholic School in Charlevoix and was an altar server. He graduated from Charlevoix High School. He played the trombone in concert band and was in marching and jazz bands. He also liked sports and played hockey, soccer, golf, and tennis. Tom was very active in Boy Scouts. He earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was a member of the Order of the Arrow. He mentored other scouts and was a counselor at Camp Greilick in Traverse City, Michigan. At Michigan State University, Thomas earned a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. He then went on to Central Michigan University and obtained a Master's Degree in Business, specializing in Human Resources. While attending Central Michigan University, he was a student announcer at WCMU Public radio. After graduation, he worked as a Human Resource Manager. Tom is survived by his parents, Linda and Michael Castiglione, of Charlevoix, Michigan, his two brothers, Michael Vincent (Jessica Bay) Castiglione, of Boyne City, Michigan, Benjamin (Breanna Londgren) Castiglione of Traverse City Michigan, and his nieces and nephews, Henry, Arlo, Olivia and Madeline Castiglione. Many close Aunts, Uncles, and cousins also survived him. They are: Nancy (Throop) and Jerry Fronczak of Georgetown Texas, and their daughter Nancy Elizabeth (Fronczak) Dailey; Janet (Throop) and Michael Gonzalez of Beaufort, South Carolina, and their daughters, Lee Gonzalez and Lauren (Gonzalez) Kumar; Carol (Throop) and Keith Striegler of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and their daughters Emily (Striegler) Money, Elizabeth (Striegler) Landrith, and Ellen Striegler; Wynne Dee (Wallace) Throop of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and her son Jason Throop of Elkin, Arkansas; Thomas Allen Castiglione, of Boyne City, Michigan; Daniel J. And Becky (Acosta) Castiglione, of Fort Worth, Texas, and their sons Matthew and Alec; and Marc Vadnais of Fenton, Michigan. Thomas will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, dry humor, culinary skills, and extreme kindness. He enjoyed collecting records and spending time with friends, family, and his rescue dog, Frank. He embodied thoughtfulness and kindness evident in the way that he showed up in the world. He would spend his evenings walking Frank and letting him sniff and howl to his hearts delight. He helped his brothers proof-read college papers, he sang loudly along to the music, and was always available to cheer people up. He made everyone laugh and loved to tell a good story. He was known to dress in a silly costume during Halloween that made everyone laugh. During holiday’s he was always a thoughtful gift-giver and traveled to be with his family. He felt deeply and cared deeply. He was a beloved son, brother, nephew, and friend. Tom will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Amedeo Vincent and Marie Henrietta (Malkowski) Castiglione of Central Lake, Michigan and William Moore and Nancy Louise(Boyle) Throop of Fairfield Bay, Arkansas. He also was preceded by Uncle Willliam Christopher Throop of Little Rock, Arkansas and Aunt Janet Carol (Castiglione) Vadnais of Fenton, Michigan, and his best friend and beloved dog, Frank. Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Peter Wigdon on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at Saint Mary’s Church in Charlevoix, Michigan, at 11:00 am with visitation before at the church at 10:00am and a funeral luncheon after. Thomas will be buried at the Norwood Lakeside Cemetery, in Norwood, Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Mary’s School, Charlevoix, Michigan, or to WCMU Public Media.
