About | Funeral services for William I. Supernaw, 71, retired Charlevoix Assistant Postmaster, were held Saturday at the Winchester Funeral Home. The Rev. Walter Hastings of the Community Church of God officiated. Interment was in Brookside cemetery. Mr. Supernaw died unexpectedly Thursday. Born in Grand Rapids Dec. 21, 1909, Mr. Supernaw came to Charlevoix with his parents as a child. He was graduated from Charlevoix High School in 1929 and attended Michigan State University. He joined the staff at the Charlevoix Post Office in 1937 and was retired as Assistant Postmaster in 1970. On Oct. 1, 1938, he was married to the former Angie J. Scott at Charlevoix where they had always lived. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. For the past 13 years they had spent the winter months in Taraves, Fla. He was a member of the First Congregational Church, Charlevoix Lions Club, Charlevoix Post No. 1153, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Knights of Py- thias. Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Samuel C., mayor of Charlevoix and W. Scott of Pacific Palisades, Calif.; four grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Lester (Genevieve) Smith and one brother, Henry P., both of Charlevoix. The family suggests memorials to the Charlevoix Area Hospital. |
