| About | Michael Scott Forman was born in 1954 at Madigan Army Hospital in Fort Lewis, WA. He was the beloved son of Robert Forman and June Forman Mills. Michael grew up in Lansing where he attended Eastern High School. Following graduation, he attended and graduated from the University of Michigan. During his summers at the University, he worked at Camp Michigania on Walloon Lake in the boating area. He spent the early part of his work life in travel and banking. Inspired by his special needs daughter, he decided to become a special education teacher and attended Spring Arbor University. Upon receiving his teaching certification, he was hired at Fairview Elementary School, which became Pattengill Biotechnical Magnet School. His years of teaching there, he said, were the happiest of his life. He valued his students, his colleagues, and was actively involved in committees and special assignments in the school district. Later he received a Master's degree in Inclusive Education. Michael enjoyed sci-fi, music, movies, history, sailing and astronomy (he was always reaching for the stars). He was creative, dedicated, compassionate and socially liberal. He envisioned a better future for all and strove to realize it. Michael lived within a loving family. He was Dad to five amazing daughters who were the loves of his life, Alicia (John Mesce), Audrey, Annelise, Allegra and Alyssa, and he was Granddad to little Kate. He is survived by his parents Robert Forman (Patti Forman), June Forman Mills, his sister Kathy Forman (Adnan Iftikhar), Aunt Susan Van Sickel, his many wonderful cousins and his dear friends.
