About | Donald “Don” Klement Crays, age 85, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Haslett, Michigan. Born on June 17, 1939, in Lansing, Michigan, Don’s journey through life was marked by a dedication to his family, a successful career, and outdoor activities. Don graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing, being a proud Bulldog Alumni. Don worked as Sales and Marketing Manager for Misco/Howmet in Whitehall, Michigan, Sealed Power in Waterville, Ohio, and Clark Engineering in Owosso, Michigan. Serving honorably in the Army as a Field Medic with the 3rd Battalion, 15th Infantry, Don was a recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Service Medal. Don’s unit was located in Kitzingen Germany starting as a mountaineering division and later converted towards the end of his term to heliborne assault. Don enjoyed building runabout class hydroplanes as a youth with his good friend Dick Dilley. Don later continued to enjoy hydroplane racing and antique motors with membership in the American Powerboat Association, attending races in Michigan. Don enjoyed the outdoors with sailing , bicycle riding, cross-country skiing, and camping. Later in life he loved bicycling with Emma, enjoying the rail trails across Michigan. Don is survived by his two sons, Donald "Don" D. Crays (Michelle Olk) and Andrew "Andy" C. Crays (Eva Talberg); grandchildren, Josie and Fletcher Crays; sister, Elaine Sellek; and his significant other, Emma Reardon. He was preceded in death by his ex-wife, Judy Crays in 2004. In remembrance of Don’s spirited life and his commitment to community, contributions may be made to the Parkwood YMCA on Haslett Rd, Lansing, Michigan. His legacy of warmth, dedication, and adventurous spirit will continue to inspire those who knew him and loved him. Services for Don will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish and St. John Church & Student Center, 955 Alton Rd, East Lansing, MI 48823 11:30 AM. The family will be receiving guests an hour prior. After services there will be a committal service for family held at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2520 W Willow St, Lansing, MI 48917. |
