About | John Joseph Cain Jr., known affectionately as Johnny, passed away on July 7, 2024, at the age of 82 in Gaylord, Michigan. Born on August 18, 1941, in Haslett, Michigan, he lived a rich and diverse life marked by service, dedication, and love for his family. Johnny honorably served in the US Navy from July 5, 1960, to May 16, 1963, in active duty, followed by a commitment to the reserves until July 4, 1966. His time in the Navy was a significant chapter in his life, laying a foundation of discipline and resilience that he carried into his civilian life. After his military service, Johnny embarked on a successful career as an electrician at Michigan State University, where he dedicated 33 years before retiring. His work not only showcased his skill and reliability but also his commitment to the community he served. In retirement, Johnny and his beloved wife Lorraine, who preceded him in death after 61 years of marriage, enjoyed splitting their time between Arizona during the winter months and their log home in northern Michigan during the summers. This period allowed them to enjoy the fruits of their labor, embracing the joys of nature and the changing seasons. Johnny's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his children, John (Mindy) and James (Kami); grandchildren, Bradley, Alex (Mariah), Makaila (Tony), Chase, Sawyer, and Blake; and great-grandchildren, Jayde, Waylon, Wren, Rudy, and Maevyn. He also leaves behind his siblings, Pat (Julie) and Mike. His parents, John and Margaret, and sister Wanneta, preceded him in death. A gathering to celebrate Johnny's life will be held at Williamstown Region Hall, 4990 Zimmer Rd, Williamston, MI 48895, on September 8, 2024, from noon to 3 pm.
