58, of Iron Mountain, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2016 at his home.
Ted was born on June 23, 1958 in Iron Mountain, son of Nan (O'Grady) and the late Perry L. Franzoi. Ted has been a lifelong resident of this area and was a 1977 graduate of Iron Mountain High School. Over the years, Ted has worked for Pine Mountain, Briar Mountain and Trico Opportunities. Travel, history and the Upper Peninsula were some of Ted’s many interests. He and his good friend Lisa, enjoyed traveling and visiting historical places in the U.P. Ted was known to be a very kind and generous person. He had the gift of gab and enjoyed talking with people wherever he went. He also enjoyed taking long bike rides, music, movies and old cars. Ted was an avid collector and a Green Bay Packer fan.
Ted was a member of St. Mary and St. Joseph Church and the Kiwanis Ski Club
He was preceded in death by his father, Perry L., brother, Perry M., the Franzoi, O’Grady and Miller grandparents, uncle James O’Grady, aunts Edwig Koll, Joyce Kehoe, Ruth Reinke and Bobbie Scheinert.
Ted is survived by his mother, Nan Franzoi of Iron Mountain; his sister, Polly (Scott) DePetro of Peavy Falls; aunts, Hyacinth Bell of Chicago, IL, and his dearest aunt Betty O'Grady of Milwaukee, WI, uncles, Louis (Joyce) Franzoi of Palm Bay, Florida and Dennis (Kathy) O'Grady of Milwaukee, WI; his treasured friend, Lisa Garcia, many cousins including his favorite cousin, DuWayne O'Grady and good friend Jerome DeMuri. Ted is also survived by his moms service dog and companion D.B.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 10:00am-11:00am at St. Mary and St. Joseph Church in Iron Mountain. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00am on Thursday. Fr. Janusz Romanek will offer the Mass of Christian burial. Burial will be in Iron Mountain Cemetery Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his memory to the Kiwanis Ski Club.
