| About | Linda Sue Hennigar, lovingly known as “Birdie” to many who knew her best, passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at the age of 80. Linda was a longtime resident of Oscoda, Michigan, where she dedicated much of her life to her community as a school teacher, volleyball, and basketball coach. She touched the lives of countless students and athletes over the years through her patience, encouragement, and caring spirit. Her impact reached far beyond the classroom and the court, and she will be remembered fondly by many throughout the Oscoda community. Outside of teaching and coaching, Linda found great joy in gardening and caring for her home. She was known for her immaculate lawn and beautiful flower beds, which reflected the pride, care, and love she put into everything she did. Whether tending to her garden or cheering from the sidelines, Linda brought warmth and kindness wherever she went. Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Steve Hennigar, who passed away in September 2025. Though she had no children of her own, she deeply adored her family and especially cherished her nieces and nephews, Corey Burton and Courtney Ingle, along with their children: Halley Briggs, Ashley Wymann, Noah Burton, Kathryn Vocke, Olivia Ingle, and Madison Ingle. She treasured every opportunity to travel down to watch their sporting events and celebrate their accomplishments. A celebration of Linda's life will be held at a later date. |
