About | Obiturary from Oscoda Press Jerry Swaton, 68, of Oscoda, died Thursday, January 6, 2005 in Plymouth, Mich. He was born on July 28, 1936 in Detroit, Mich. He grew up in Bay City, Mich. where he graduated from Central High School. He earned a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and a master's degree from Michigan State University. He married Dolores Durham in Saginaw, Mich. on August 16, 1958. The couple moved to Oscoda, where he taught at Oscoda Area Schools for 34 years until his retirement in 1992. During his years at Oscoda Area Schools, he coached boys and girls basketball and boys baseball. He also worked as an insurance broker for Meemic Insurance Company. He was a member of the Oscoda Yacht Club and Lakewood Shores Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed his favorite hobby of golf. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Gertrude; and his brother, James. He is survived by his wife, Dolores; his son, Steven (Susan) Swaton of Marshall, Mich.; his daughter, Sharyl (Mike) Meyer of Pinckney, Mich.; his brothers, John Swaton of Bay City, Mich. and Jay (Jodi) Swaton of Bay City, Mich.; his sisters June Prentice of Kansas City, Mo. and Nina Swaton of Phoenix, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Lindsay Meyer, Nick Meyer, Kurt Swaton and Brett Swaton; and several nieces and nephews. |
