About | Obituary from Oscoda Press Larry Quellman, 74, of Oscoda died Monday, October 13, 2003 at his home in Pompano Beach, Fla. He was born in Oakes, N. D. on January 19, 1929. Mr. Quellman grew up in North Dakota where he graduated from Jamestown College in 1951. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On June 4, 1951, he was united in marriage to Jessie M. Cropp at Jamestown, N. D. They moved to the Oscoda area in 1958 where Mr. Quellman served the school system as a teacher, coach and athletic director until his retirement in 1985. As one of the most successful football coaches in the school's history, he was inducted into the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1985. He also was a successful track and field coach for 20 years. Mr. Quellman was a member of Oscoda Trinity Lutheran Church, the Oscoda Yacht Club and Lakewood Shores Golf Club, where he was an avid golfer. He is survived by his wife, Jessie; three sons, Rick, Mike (Jeannie) and Jim (Lori); one sister, Marian Grush; seven grandchildren, Michael, Krista, Stephen, Angel, Anita, Taylor and Carley; one great-granddaughter, Casey; and one daughter-in-law, Laura. |
