About | Alex Briggins, 57, of Port Huron, died unexpectedly Thursday, October 23, 2008. He was born July 9, 1951 in Newbern, Alabama to the late Rebecca and Jerry Briggins, Sr. Mr. Briggins worked for Kroger for 40 years, most recently as a supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a former member of Central Lodge #23 F. & A.M. and he loved sports. He leaves to mourn his passing: his son, Alex C. Briggins and former wife, Nancy Johnson of Port Huron; a granddaughter, Alexis; two brothers, Jerry Briggins, Jr. and David Briggins, both of Port Huron; two sisters, Hattie Cottrell of Penfield, New York and Rosemary McCorkle of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Patricia Briggins of Port Huron; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Louis Briggins, a sister-in-law, Minnie Briggins, and an aunt, Susie Brown who died October 25, 2008. Funeral services were in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home. Burial was in Allied Veterans Cemetery. Military honors were conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
