Dick Herring Obituary (1941 - 2026)

Graduation Year Class of 1960
Date of Birth Oct 03, 1941
Date of Passing Feb 06, 2026
About Dick was born October 3, 1941, and was a lifelong resident of Reed City and a 1960 graduate of Reed City High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Dick had a lifelong passion for sports, from playing in his younger years to spending countless hours watching his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren play—moments that brought him tremendous joy. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who also tended a large vegetable garden. His children have fond memories of growing up eating his fresh catches and garden vegetables. Dick enjoyed going to town every day to eat and visit with people in his community. His friendly presence and daily conversations made him a cherished part of Reed City. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his sisters, Phyllis and Carolyn; his daughters, Kathy, Karen, and Brenda; his grandchildren, Rusty, Jared, Garrett, Carly, Jessica, and Jake; and his great-grandchildren, Cooper, Austin, Sloane, Dieter, Locke, and Freya, with another great-grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bette, of 36 years; his parents, Waive and Robert Herring; his brothers, Robert, Alfred, and Joseph; his sisters, Ruth, Nina, Rose, Norma, Emma, and Pat; and his great-granddaughter, Opal.

Please join us in celebrating the life of an amazing man whose warmth, generosity, and sense of humor touched all who knew him. Though he will be greatly missed, his legacy will live on through those who had the privilege of calling him friend and family.

Visitation will be held at Pruitt-Livingston Funeral Home in Reed City on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a service at 2:00 p.m. with military honors.
