ADRIAN, Mich. -

Denise “Dee” Bailey, age 46, of Adrian, passed away unexpectedly, Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, in her home.

Denise was born June 19, 1962, in Adrian, the daughter of Merlin and Shirley (Griffin) Myers. She graduated from Sand Creek High School with the Class of 1980.

Dee worked at the Dominican Life Center. She was a wonderful cook and also did some catering. An avid reader, Dee loved Stephen King novels and any Christian novels that came her way. Dee was an animal lover who enjoyed showing paint and pinto horses. When she wasn’t showing, she still enjoyed attending horse shows. Her greatest joy was her family. Camping at Wampler’s Lake with the McMordie family and cookouts with friends and cousins were always special events for Dee. In her family Dee was known as “The Matchmaker.”

In addition to her parents, Merlin and Shirley, Dee is survived by two daughters, Tara (Randy) Salazar of Naples, Fla., and Tana Bailey of Adrian; her fiancé, Louie Bill of Sand Creek; and her dearest friend since middle school, Karen McMordie of Jasper. She will be missed by her “Yay” dog, Sassy.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Kirk, and uncles, Harold Myers, Lee Griffin and Richard Griffin.

The funeral service for Dee will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, at < st1:place w:st="on">St. John’s Lutheran Church, on North Adrian Highway, with the Rev. Joel Sarrault officiating. Burial will follow at Hunt Cemetery at 2 p.m. Friends may visit the family at Wagley Funeral Home on Sunday from 3 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dee may be made to the family for the benefit of her daughters. Envelopes are available at Wagley Funeral Home.
