About Diane M. Arett, 70 of Austin, Minnesota, passed away at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Austin on Friday, December 20, 2019.
Diane Marie was born April 24, 1949 in Rochester, Minnesota to Vernon and Marian (Berg) Weis. She grew up in Austin and attended Austin Schools, graduating with the class of 1967 from Austin High School. On May 1, 1971 Diane was united in marriage to Dale Arett at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. They were married for 27 years and were blessed with four sons.
Diane was a homemaker and devoted mother to her sons. Over the years she also worked for various Austin businesses including St. Olaf Hospital in central supply, and later for REM/Woodvale. Diane was a faithful member of Grace Lutheran Church. She served the church as Sunday school superintendent and volunteered her time where ever her talents were needed. Diane also found time to care for her father for many years as his health was in decline. At the center of her life were her children and grandchildren, and she loved following all of their sports and activities.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant son Christopher.
Diane is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Bradley and Barbra Arett of Thief River Falls, Andrew Arett of Austin, and John and Tiffany Arett of Austin; 11 grandchildren, Brett Newell, Joshua Rasmussen, Ashley Rasmussen, Edward Arett, Elizabeth Arett, Taylor Arett, Isaiah Clennon, Kaitlin Arett, Mikayla Arett, Jett Arett, Magnolia Arett; great grandson, Maison Benson; brothers, Brian Weis of Mora, Mark Weis of Austin; sister, Karen Placek of Austin; former husband, Dale Arett of Minneapolis; nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27th at Grace Lutheran Church with the Reverend Madison Chelberg officiating. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
