About | Dorothy Haukom, 61 of Mantorville, MN died Friday, June 19, 2015 at her home after a courageous fight with ALS, with her husband by her side. Dorothy was born June 29, 1953 to Robert and Harriet (Helleckson) Distad in Austin, MN.The family lived in Hayfield until 1956 when they moved to Austin.Dorothy attended grade school and Jr. High School in Austin until moving back to Hayfield in 1968 and graduating from Hayfield High School in 1971.She then attended Mankato State University for two years and then transferred to the University of Utah majoring in Health Education earning a master degree in business. Dorothy moved back to Minnesota in 2005 where she helped and spent time with her mother.On August 11, 2006, Dorothy married Philip Haukom.They made their home in Mazeppa and moved to Mantorville in 2010. Dorothy enjoyed cross stitch, her flower garden, cooking, baking, playing duplicate bridge achieving her life master in 2014, was a true Vikings and Twins fan and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ ofLatter-day Saints. She is survived by her husband Philip Haukom; daughter, Heidi (Colby) Hansen; sons, Mike (Layne) Goetes and John Goetes of Salt Lake City, UT; step-daughters, Dawn Miller of Eden Prairie, MN. and Roseann (Jeremiah) Schultz of Rochester, MN; 9 grandchildren; and 4 brothers. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert Distad and Harriet Distad Thompson and step-father Paul Thompson. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Saturday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at Ranfranz and Vine. |
