About | Mr. Whiteis, 46, of 1820 Fourth Ave. N.E., a Hormel Foods Corp. employee, died unexpectedly Saturday (Jan. 16, 1999) at his home. He graduated from Austin Central High School in 1970 and then was an officers' cook in the Navy for four years. After his discharge, he returned to Austin and was a cook at the Oak Leaf. On Sept. 13, 1975, he married Marjorie Voorhees at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin. They lived in Minneapolis until returning to Austin in 1984 when he began his employment with Hormel. He enjoyed gardening and cooking. Survivors include his wife; a son, Alex Blake of Austin; a daughter, Andrea Renea Whiteis of Austin; his parents, Obert and Ellen (Kokenougles) Whiteis of Austin; two brothers, Michael of Cohasset, Minn., and Paul of Arizona; and two sisters, Martha (Mrs. Thomas) Larson of Byron and Susan Wilson of Austin |
