About | A memorial service for Kenneth L. Sterling will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Austin, with the Rev. David DeFor officiating. Mr. Sterling, 56, of Austin, died Sunday (Feb. 10, 2008) near Lyle. Kenneth died in a workplace accident at Absolute Energy near Lyle, Minnesota on the Iowa side of the border. He was crushed between a ceiling beam and a manlift with no witnesses, so details are not known. Kenneth Lee Sterling was born Jan. 22, 1952, in Austin, and was a graduate of Austin High School. He was a welder and was currently employed in construction near Lyle by Fagen Engineering of Granite Falls, Minn. Mr. Sterling loved to ride his motorcycle, and his annual trip to Sturgis, S.D., was the highlight of his year. He was a creative welder and enjoyed fabricating new items from older random parts. Survivors include a sister, Suzie (David) Spain of Princeton, Minn.; and a brother, Benjamin J. (Betty) of Churchill, Mont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Ruth (Rhodes) Sterling. |
