About | Roger Ray Trask, of Tacoma, Wash., formerly of Austin, died Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, at the VA Hospital in Seattle, Wash., of cancer. Roger was born in Charles City, Iowa, to Raymond Trask and Ruth Trask Collette on Nov. 6, 1951. He attended school in Buckner, Mo., where his father passed away. The family then moved to Austin, and he graduated in 1971. He went into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Roger married Mary Ross and had two children, Peggy Young and Valerie Declue. The couple divorced, and he then worked in Duluth, later moving to Tacoma, Wash., in 1994. He found he had cancer in 2006; he had several free years until 2013 and was treated in the VA Hospital in Seattle. He leaves his daughters, Peggy Young and Valeri Declue, both of Austin; four grandchildren; his mother, Ruth Collette, of Austin; a sister, Pamela (Darrell) Meyer, of Albert Lea; and many nieces, nephews and friends both in Austin and Tacoma. He will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis at a later date. A military service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the VFW #1216 in Austin. |
