Orval Aaron Whitcomb died at the age of twenty years as the result of an automobile accident near Kenai, Alaska, November 15, 1969. He was born September 11, 1949, in Brookings, SD, the son of Leonard and Grace Whitcomb. Since graduation from Park Rapids High School, June 05, 1969 he had worked at Kenai, Alaska and lived with a cousin, James R. Whicomb of Soldonta, Alaska. Funeral Servoces were held at Faith Baptist Church in Park Rapids, Minnesota Friday November 21, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon with Pastor Raymond Lindholm officiating. Miss Jean Ballard, pianist, accompanied by Mrs. Betty Tapper, Mrs. Eileen Borstad and Mrs. Roberta Malm as they sang "Face to Face" and "Turn your eyes upon Jesus". Pallbearers were Keith Allen, Pat Costello, Drew Huntsinger, James Costello, Larry Hoverstein, Terry Bishop and James Williams. Surviving Orval Whitcomb are his Mother, Mrs. Clyde (Grace) Hawks; eight brothers and sisters, Rev. Francis M. Whitcomb of Sioux Falls, SD, Otis A Whitcomb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Mrs. Donald ( Lucille) Kyro of Brainerd, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Meech of Sebeka, Mrs. John (Alice) DeVore of Minneapolis, Mrs. John( Dorothy) Mc Kelvey of Minneapolis, Mrs. Larry ( Rilla) May of Park Rapids and James H. Whitcomb of Park Rapids; a step-father Clyde Hawks; five half -brothers, several nieces and nephews; four step-sisters; three step-brothers; and Miss Wanda Ann Swearington, Orvals fiancee. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard A. Whitcomb. Arrangements were by Jones Funeral Home. |
